Common questions
I played a move and it did not appear. Is that a bug?
No — that is deliberate. In a mate puzzle there is one answer. A wrong
move costs you a light and is not played onto the board, because letting
you build on a mistake would waste your time and then blame you for it.
How do you know the puzzles are right?
Every position is proved before it ships: exactly one first move forces
mate, no faster mate exists by another route, and playing the whole line
ends in checkmate. The move generator is verified against the standard
published perft counts.
Why does the defence always play the most annoying move?
Because it picks the reply that survives longest rather than the first
one it finds. A mate in three really takes three.
What are the wardens?
Every fourth puzzle is guarded, and the warden takes one thing away:
the legal-move dots, time, an extra light per mistake, or their pieces
turned to silhouettes. The rare items in the workshop exist to take those
back.
Where did my run go?
Runs are not saved between launches — a run is meant to be one sitting.
Your totals and best score are kept.
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
No, and there never will be. You paid once; everything in the game is
reached by playing.
Does it need the internet?
No. Tempo is completely offline and makes no network connections at
all.
